I’ve been working as the Content Manager at RealiseMe for the past year and 8 months. I’ll soon be moving on to an exciting new position in a completely new industry but it’s my work at RealiseMe, and the opportunities I have been given here, that have helped me to get there.
I first came to RealiseMe having worked in two schools as a special needs teaching assistant. I loved working in education but dreamed of working in a more creative position. RealiseMe gave me the chance to use my experience in education, to work for a company that makes a positive contribution to schools, while also being able to be creative and learn new skills.

It was a big change and I had a lot to learn. To begin with, working in a start-up environment is monumentally different to working in schools. I went from having a set timetable and a rigid school routine to working from home. My students and teaching colleagues became web developers and entrepreneurs. I also went from working in the classroom alongside the teachers to meeting and speaking with executive headteachers and CEOs.
As Content Manager, I have been responsible for managing all our digital content, including our fantastic education blog, social media, marketing projects, and email campaigns- to name a few! As a graduate with little experience, it was a tall order, but I was ready to learn.
While working at RealiseMe, I’ve accumulated an abundance of new skills. For instance, I now know how to create complex email journeys and how to use google analytics, things I had no knowledge of 2 years ago. I’ve continually had to learn independently and be creative. RealiseMe is the type of company that encourages new ideas and taking the initiative. If I ever suggested a good idea in a meeting, then I had to be fully prepared to take responsibility and make it happen.

Being a total bookworm with a passion for writing, the highlight of working at RealiseMe has been working on our school recruitment ebook. I had the opportunity to take full responsibility for the project: from structuring and editing the initial content, through to liaising on design and formatting, and then promotion and marketing.
Working for a start-up has meant having to roll up my sleeves and get involved at all levels from day one. I’ve been able to see a product grow from its early days and see how my contributions have panned out in the product’s growth. Being able to see the immediate impact of your work is something that entry-level positions in larger companies rarely offer.
Our founder has a motto: “Challenge yourself every day, be better than yesterday, and go home proud.” With all that I have achieved, I am definitely going home proud.
